You have inspired me to write another piece on MY history: I grew up white in the segregated south, being taught in school that the "War Between the States" was all (& solely) about states rights. My parents tried to balance school books with reality, but many who were similarly taught are today's most insidious racists - - because they cannot spot THOSE roots. That's what we should be embarrassed about, except DeSnits is just an embarrassment to humankind. I have to believe that truth & justice will win. But yes, it shouldn't take this long.
