I'm from that older generation (probably way older than your mom & godmother) & understand: a written thank-you was Absolutely Necessary. But times change. I get texts & occasional Instagram hearts from my grandchildren. I love them unconditionally and who cares if they express thanks as I used to feel proper? I taught their parents differently, but TIMES CHANGE. Those adult comments to you were totally wrong. We communicate however we know best at the time. It was your godmother's loss. No human connection, IMHO, is worth severing for petty misunderstandings. End of sermon 🙄.
