Distrust of the court began in earnest with Trump's open declaration that he would name judges who would overturn Roe, and then with the appalling maneuverings that got us Kavanaugh, Gorsuch & Barrett. Exposure of ethical lapses by Thomas (lapse is a little too mild) and Alito just confirm what we knew. Their resignations would begin a restoration but I'm not holding my breath.
